Eight Questions to Find Your Real Birth Order

From time to time we see claims linking birth order and

various medical and social conditions.  Research has as

its objective, to look for answers to specific questions that

help explain our world.  Many times it is to test a theory in

order to make something more predictable based on the

research. If the sample population is not clearly identified,

then the data that is collected is flawed, as well as the results.

Double Blind Studies

Using a double blind study is always the best method to study

a problem.  Neither the subjects nor the persons administering

the experiment know which group is the control and which is

the experimental. This type of study is very difficult to do when

birth order is being studied. Most birth order studies use

questionnaires to find their subject’s birth order. By using the

following eight important principles to find the “Real” birth of

their participant’s birth order studies will be more accurate.

Most studies fall short in their original identification of the birth

orders of their participants. There are eight questions that
must be answered before the sample will have correct birth 
orders.

1. Spacing between Siblings and Groups of Siblings

The spacing between siblings is by far the most important

factor in finding the “Real” birth order.  If there are four or

more years on either side of a person it adds the Only

characteristic to their ordinal number of birth.

A firstborn that is at least 4yrs older than the next sibling is a

One/Only birth order.

A second born that has a 4yr separation between siblings is a

Two/Only birth order.

A third born that has a 4yr separation between siblings is a

Three/Only birth order

The fourth born that has a 4yr separation between siblings is a

 Four/Only birth order.

These children assume their Double birth orders as they spend

time alone at home with at least one parent for the four years

before they go off to school. They pick up the characteristics

of the Only child because of this added nurturing.  The Only

characteristic amplifies, intensifies and magnifies the ordinal 

birth order characteristics.

When a group of siblings in a family are separated by four or

more years the siblings in the second or third family get double

ordinal birth orders. These children show a blending of their

two ordinal birth numbers. These two examples will show what

happens when spacing occurs.

Family A; four children with the oldest Becky, age 18 who is 6

years older then the next group of three  Jim age 12, Bob age 

10 and Linda age 8, all spaced two years apart.

The First born Becky is 6 years older; she becomes a 

One/Only birth order. The second, third and fourth children 

in the next group receive the following Double birth orders. 

Jim becomes a Two/One, Bob a Three/Two, and Linda a 

Four/Three birth order.

Family B; four children with the first two, James 11 and Lee 10

are one year apart. Then there is a 4 year separation before

Kathy age 6 and Anne age 4 are born.

First born James is a #1; Second born Lee is a #2 then the 4

year gap. The Third born Kathy is a Three/One, and the Fourth

born Anne is a Four/Two Double birth order.

Without understanding the spacing and Double birth orders the

sample would be flawed.

2. Stepbrothers and Sisters

The addition of stepbrothers and sisters in a combined family

Can change birth orders.  A child will be demoted by an older

step-sibling and this must be taken into account in the

questionnaire. If a child changes birth order in a combined 

family, they should not be included unless it is a study 

dealing with combined families and their new birth orders.

3. Who did the child live with until Age 16

The interaction with siblings is what determines birth order

characteristics. This is why a study needs to know who the

child was living with until age 16.  Many times a child grows

up living with a grandparent or another relative. In divorce

situations not all of the children may live with the same parent. 

Knowing where they were living and if there are any other

children in this family and their ages will determine the birth

order of the children in the sample.

4. Handicapped or Disabled Siblings

This item can really upset the birth order.  If an older sibling is

Disabled or becomes disabled during his childhood then all the

other siblings move up a spot in birth order. If the handicapped

sibling is at a lower number than all the siblings above him then

the affect will be less. These children may feel that they did not

receive the normal amount of attention or interaction because 

of the extra attention given the disabled sibling.

5. Death of a Sibling

If a death of a sibling occurs then all of the other siblings move

Up a position.  If the sibling that died is kept “alive” by the 

family as a “phantom” sibling than this affects the siblings that 

were born later or were at a lower numbered birth order than 

the sibling that died.

6. Adopted Siblings

Adopted siblings that come into an existing family will assume

a birth order number based on their ages.  They may demote

a natural born sibling or elevate another depending on the ages

of all the children. An Only sibling would become a firstborn if

the adopted sibling is three years or less younger.  The Only 

child now has a brother or sister.

7. Twins or Multiple Births

These children also take on the characteristics of the different

Birth orders once they know who is oldest or youngest in the

multiple birth. The other children in the family will be affected

by a multiple birth because the multiple birth can use much of

the family resources and

time.

8. Cultural Bias

Most societies have a male gender bias in their family’s

structure. This is especially true in Asian and Arab cultures

where the children with female genders are not held in as

high esteem as males. The first male to be born may assume

the firstborn position in these families and therefore change

his birth order number.

Do Firstborns Have More Allergies?  A Study with Problems

On Sunday, March 20, 2011 a study was presented at the

annual meeting of the American Academy of Allergy,

Asthma & Immunology in San Francisco, California. By

Monday morning the conclusions from this study hit the

news media.

Study finds common allergies tied to birth order

Researchers found a higher risk of developing several types of

allergies in firstborns compared to those that were second or

third borns.  This is the age we live in, as headlines like this

increase the audience and readers but is it really true?

A Closer Look at the Birth Order Data

This study was done by Takashi Kusunoki in Shiga, Japan.

They questioned parents of 13,000 children in Japan between

the ages 7 and 15. They asked the parents for information on

the history of allergies before the age of one. The findings

showed the firstborns with a 4% increase, the second borns a

3.5% increase and the thirdborns a 2.6% increase in allergies.

Flaws in the Study

To ask someone to remember 7 to 15yrs later about the 

allergy history of their child is very subjective.  In all 

societies the firstborns get an extraordinary about of attention 

where every cry, runny nose, or slightest problem will be 

addressed by the parents.  The later born children do not 

get as much attention and if they had problems they may 

not be remembered or just ignored. Japan is one of very 

few countries that has a name for the second born hiyameshi 

a word also meaning cold rice.  This cultural bias may have 

played a role in the study.

This study did not take into account any of our eight ways to

find the Real Birth order of the children in the study.  A child

with a Double birth order of the type with Only characteristics

may be treated more like a firstborn and less like a later born

and would affect the results of the study.

The study is interesting but not conclusive since the sample

was not uniform.

Study Says Eldest Children Have Higher I.Q’s –New York Times

Dr. Petter Kristenen of the University of Oslo and Dr. Tor

Bjerkedal of the Norwegian Armed Forces Medical Services

conducted the study. This study looked at the I.Q. scores of

241,310 18-19 year old men born from 1967 to 1976 using

their military records. The only adjustments were parents

education level, maternal age at birth, and family size. The

results showed the eldest children scored 3% higher then

second children and 4% higher than third borns. They also

looked at 63,951 pairs of brothers and found the same results.

The researchers did examine the scores of the younger sibling

after an older sibling had died. They describe this as a 

functional Firstborn.  Their scores came out the same as if 

they were the eldest.

Flaws in the Study

It does not look like this study used all eight of the factors that

would find their subjects Real birth orders.  They did use one,

the death of a elder sibling with predicable results as the 

second born was now being treated like a firstborn or Only 

child.  I’m sure in the study there were also many subjects 

with some sort of Double birth order, this would influence 

the results. When the characteristics for birth orders are 

described it is always the firstborn that wants to excel in school 

with the later borns picking something else to make them

different, it is usually athletics for the second born.

The test for I.Q. is a written one something the firstborn, being

The better student, would have a slight edge.  I.Q. is just one

measure of intelligence and three and four percent is not very

significant.

Firstborns will continue to use this study to their advantage over

their younger siblings.  We know the data and conclusions may

be flawed.

Don’t Believe Everything You Hear or See in the News

Now you can look at any story or news item on birth order

more critically. You will see if they used all of the eight items

in their identification of the participants in the study before you

accept their conclusions.  As they say, it may be like comparing

apples to oranges.

The Double Birth Order of Glenn Beck

                                             Glenn Beck

Glenn Beck is an author, editor, inspirational speaker, and talk show host

on the Fox network. He has been described as right-wing conservative

and a major supporter of the Tea-Party movement.  This man seems to

have it all so it was time to find his birth order so we can see the

characteristics that made for his success. The research for the

information on his siblings was not an easy one. I knew he had an

older sister but who knew he had another much older sister?

Early Years

Glenn was born February 10, 1964 in Everett, Washington, his sister

Michelle is two years older.  At age 13 his parents divorced and Glenn

and Michelle moved from Mt. Vernon to Summer, Washington. Two

years later in 1979 his mother died in a mysterious drowning incident

in Puget Sound.  No one is sure if it was an accident or a suicide.  After

the death of his mother, both he and his sister Michelle moved back with

his father, stepmother and step siblings, as his father had remarried. Glenn

was 15 at the time.  One of his step siblings committed suicide and another

died of a heart attack. I do not know if they were older or younger than 

Glenn and Michelle. The siblings in this new step family would have little affect

on Glenn since he was already 15years old. My quest for all of his siblings

may have ended here but for a story Glenn told about his childhood. Glenn

tells the story about the day his older sister played hooky.  He said, “My

other sister and I were a little surprised when my dad picked us up and we

went looking for our older sister…” Now we know there were two girls and

a boy in the original Beck family.

Search for his oldest Sister

I knew from watching his show that he demonstrated multiple characteristics

not clearly any one birth order so the search for the oldest sister was the

answer. I reasoned that after the divorce she did not go to Summer, Washington

with Glenn and Michelle. That year, 1977, may have been her last year in

high school or she may have already graduated.  My first search was at the

Tacoma Public Library for a copy of his mother’s obituary.  There it listed her

children, Michelle, Glenn, and Coletta of Mt. Vernon, Washington.  My suspicion

that she had stayed in Mt. Vernon was right.  Following a number of calls to

Mt. Vernon High and the local library I found her picture in the 1976 yearbook.

This makes her date of birth to be 1958 making her 4 years older than Michelle

and 6 years older than Glenn.

Birth Order Designations

The Beck family demonstrates what is known as a “family within a family”.

Four school years separate the oldest sibling from the next group of two giving

everyone a Double Birth Order.

Coletta      One/Only          Double Birth Order (The 4yrs gave her more time

                                            alone with her parents like an Only child.)

       4yr Gap

Michelle  Two/One           Double Birth Order  (The oldest in the second family)

Glenn      Three/Two         Double Birth Order  (Third born but second in the

                                                                         second family and the only boy)

Birth Order Characteristics of the Second Born

The second child likes to control his own space and does not want to be told

what to do.They usually have a more outgoing personality than their older

sibling.  If the older sibling is doing well in school then they will concentrate

on athletics or anything different from their older brother or sister. They can

be very competitive and don’t give up easily. Making a lot of money allows

them not to be told what to do. In 2009 Beck made 21 million dollars true to

his second born characteristic. Some twos may be called rebels if you think

personal responsibity, low debt and limited government are rebel ideas, then

he fits.

Birth Order Characteristics of the Third Born.

The third born sees life very differently than the second born.  He is not very

competitive but sees life in more humanitarian terms.  He loves helping others

and sees the bigger picture. They are artistic, spiritual, creative and very 

sensitive.They love working with groups of people as they understand everyone

easily. Sensitivity to those around them gives them lots of friends and an air 

of being very happy. The truth is they are laughing on the outside but crying 

on the inside.They do not like to expose their inner feelings. They are open to 

the world around them and that includes drugs, alcohol and religion. Religion is

now central in Glenn’s life.  He converted to Mormonism which he accounts for 

his cure and is now a recovering alcoholic, drug addict and substance abuser.

As the first born boy with two older sisters Glenn is in a unique position to act 

at times like a Firstborn. Acting like a Firstborn may make him look stronger 

than he really is and since it is an act, he may overdo it. .

Work

Glenn is a blending of these two birth orders and we can see that in his work

history. His first job was at age 13 when he won a contest to be on his hometown

radio station KRBC. In high school Glenn began working regularly on a part-time

basis for a radio station in Seattle. He would do the midnight show on Friday night

and would have to take the bus to Seattle.. He often would sleep at the station

during the weekend shows. As a second born the money would be important as

a way toward independence. The radio gave him a stage from which to perform, 

a third born characteristic. He had numerous radio jobs over the years and the 

only pattern was one of going from job to job after being let go. Maybe he didn’t

like management telling him what to do?  A second born trait.

Political Views

Beck considers himself a libertarian; he says every day he is fighting for individual

rights, a trait consistent with a second born. Second borns don’t want anyone

telling them what to do.  As the third born he has an almost religious zeal for

getting everyone educated in the matter of fiscal responsibility.  He wants

everyone to be able to control their own life by living within their means, another

number two trait.

Blended Birth Orders

This blending of birth orders makes for a very interesting person.  Time

Magazine thought so in 2009 and named him The Most Interesting Personality.  

Understanding this blending of the second and third born traits will give you a 

better picture of the “Real” Glenn Beck. His third born characteristics gave him

a different and open view of the world. It cost him his first marriage and almost

cost him his life with alcohol and drug additions. His second born trait of wanting 

to control his own world gave him the strength to kick his habits. His third born

side helped as he sought out religion as a solution. This combination of the

 two/three double birth order, shows a strong independent person who is 

dedicated and cares deeply about others.

Charlie Sheen A Third Born out of Control?

                            

Charlie Sheen, actor and star of the TV show Two and a Half Men, 

has been in the news.  His life and lifestyle are being exposed to

public scrutiny so it is time to unmask his birth order. His birth order

will let us see what makes Charlie so likable while at the same time

he appears unbalanced and self destructive.

·        Family and Siblings

Charlie’s parents Martin and Janet Sheen changed their name from

Estevez before Charlie was born to make it less ethnic and help

Martin’s acting career. Their firstborn was Emilo, May 12, 1962. 

Next, Ramon August 7, 1963, Charlie September 3, 1965 and 

last and the only girl, Renee April 2, 1967. Charlie was born Carlos 

Irvin Estevez and the only child to use Sheen as his last name.  This 

should have been the signal that life was going to be different with 

Charlie.

·        Characteristics of the Third Born

                     When the third child is born he has to understand 14 different 

                     relationships in the family. Those between all his siblings, parents 

                     and himself in different combinations.  This is what makes the

                     third born such a master at understanding and working with

                     groups of people.  They can be the most sensitive and intuitive

                     people as they pick up on the subtleties of those around them.

                     Understanding others makes them likable as they truly feel you      

                     pain. They are masters of playing one sibling against the other and

                     are good at coming and going emotionally. They see the world very

                     differently than the first- and second borns. Power over others or

                     the control of their own space in not as important as their need to

                     express themselves in humanitarian or artistic ways. In life, this birth

                     order has more freedom to experience the non-traditional aspects 

                     of society on a more personal level. Drugs, sex, and alcohol

                     immediately come to mind. Because of the third born’s extreme

                     sensitivity they can project a tough outer appearance but this is 

                     only a sham to protective their sensitive side.   

·        Third Born with Two Older Brothers

                    All third borns share a number of similar characteristics but they

                    display them differently. The gender of the two older siblings has

                    a great deal of influence on the behavior of the third born. In

                    Charlie’s family it has been said that he had an adversarial 

                    relationship with his two older brothers, Emilo and Ramon. 

                    There can be a lot of testosterone with three boys.This is the 

                    clue that he was trying to move up the birth order ladder.The 

                    child with the lower birth order always wants to move up but 

                    usually the third born doesn’t have a chance because the age gap

                    is too large. Most third borns just ignore their older siblings and

                    go in a different direction rather than compete.  Not so with Charlie.

·        The Move Up - Sibling Rivalry

                    What would give Charlie as a child the thought that he could 

                    challenge his siblings and try to move up in birth order. We don’t

                    know what happened in the home during this period of his life but

                    a few clues can lead us in this investigation. As an adult Charlie is

                    taller than his two older brothers. Charlie is 5’10”, Emilo the 

                    oldest is 5’6”, and the second brother Ramon is 5’7”.  If Charlie

                    grew early this would have been a factor in the challenge for the

                    higher position.  It should also be noted that the second brother

                    Ramon was named after his father.  This is very unusual as the

                    first born usually gets his father’s name.  Perhaps his older brother

                    Emilo felt a little less secure after Ramon was born.  This was 

                    another opening for Charlie. 

·        Like Father Like Son

                    Martin Sheen, Charlie’s father was born Ramon Estevez the seventh 

                    of ten children.  This makes his birth order a second level number

                    three (Birthorder numbers start again after number four) very similar

                    to Charlie. Martin wanted to be an actor so badly that it is said he

                    purposely failed his entrance exam to college so he could start his

                    acting career. We see a similar pattern with Charlie who was not

                    much of a student in high school, his interests were acting and 

                    baseball. Charlie got his first acting role at age nine with a part in his

                    father’s movie, The Execution of Private Slovik. He was the star

                    shortstop and pitcher on his high school team but a few weeks
                    before graduation he was expelled due to poor attendance and
                    bad grades.This was also the first time there is a mention of the
                    influence of drugs in his life. He has since gone through rehab for
                    this problem.

·        What the Future may Hold

                    What will be the future for this likable third born.  Will he enter rehab

                    again and kick his drug habit?  Is a stable marriage in his future? 

                    Third borns are very protective of their sensitive nature so when the

                    tough façade is lost a tidal wave of emotion and a meltdown can 

                    occur. As with all birth orders you have a choice to use your special 

                    characteristics for a positive life or go in a negative direction.  Only

                    Charlie can determine his future.

Kim Jong –iL What Can Happen When a #2 is Elevated to #1

K                                            Kim Jong -iL

Kim Jong –il has been the dictatorial leader of North Korea

since 1994 after the death of his father Kim Il –sung.  His

relationship with the West has been strained at best. His 

country’s economy is in shambles and he has been putting 

his resources into nuclear weapon research and seems to

defy all attempts to get him to fall into line. Could his birth 

order have something to do with his personality?

Korean Names And Culture

Before we look at Kim Jong –il it might be best to take a

brief look at the system used for Korean names. A Korean 

name consists of a family name followed by a given name. 

There are only 250 Korean family names currently in use. 

The most common are Kim, Lee, and Park. There is also a

generational name syllable shared by all siblings and all 

members of the same generation.  Married men and women 

usually keep their full personal names, and children inherit 

the father’s family name. A name can also denote their clan 

and city of origin.

Korean Names And Gender

Korean history has a strong foundation of Confucian 

Principles acquired during the Choson Dynasty, 1392.

The family structure is patriarchal with the male being superior.

Women are not seen as ambitious and have no aspirations. 

They are referred to as ansalam or “inside person” strictly 

restricted to domesticity. It is common for the wife to keep 

her family name after marriage but the children must take their 

father’s name.

Kim Elevated to #1 Birth Order

Kim Jong –il was elevated to the number one birth order

moving above his older sister by virtue of his gender.  

The Korean culture puts the emphasis on males so with little 

effort he moved up to number one.  When this happens many

of the second born traits are still in effect.  The feeling that he

doesn’t want to be told what to do is a second born trait. 

He had to learn to lead and give orders as an elevated first
born but it is not a natural instinct. His erratic behavior may 
just be the two birth orders working, this confuses his
observers in the West.

Early Years

Kim is the eldest son of his father Kim Il-sung.  His official

biography says he was born February 16, 1942 in a log cabin

on Korea’s Mount Paektu.  Others believe he was born in
Russia on February 16, 1941. His older sister is Kim Kyong
–jin date of birth unknown.  Kim Jong –il’s move up may
have been easy but he still instinctively showed the need to 
protect his position from all possible challenges.  His 
younger brother Kim Shura Man –il was two years younger
when both were in the family swimming pool.  It is said that
older brother Kim Jong –il age 6 held his four year old
brother under the water just to watch the bubbles come up. 
This drowning accident took place place in 1947.

Brothers Sisters and Mothers

Kim’s birth mother, Jhong-suk the mother of his older sister

and younger brother died in 1949. His half brother and half 
sister Kim Pyong –il and Kim Kyong Hui were born after 
1951 to his step mother Kim Song –ae.  There was intense
sibling rivalry between Kim Jong –il and his younger half 
brother who was at least nine years younger. The conflict
between them got so bad that when Kim Pyong –il got older
he was sent to a distant embassy to keep them apart.

Kim’s Children and Their Mothers

Kim has been married only once to Kim Young –suk with
whom he had a daughter, Kim Sul –song in 1974.  He has 
had a series of mistresses and children. The following list
should help in understanding his family.

Who will be the Successor to Kim?

If birth order is any indicator then the successor would be
Kim Jong –un who has a double birth order of #4/2  He is
the only one that shares his fathers birth order of a second
born even through he also carries the 4^th birth order as well. 
His oldest son Kim Jong Nam was arrested in 2001 on a 
forged passport and is now out of favor with his father. 
Kim Jong –il’s older sister is married to Chang Sung –taek 
who may challenge Kim Jong –un for the leadership role in 
North Korea.

Nuclear Weapons

In 1994 and again in 2000 North Korea entered into 
agreements with the United States to freeze and dismantle 
its nuclear weapons program in exchange for aid in helping 
Korea get nuclear generators.  In 2002 Kim Jong –il admitted 
to having produced nuclear weapons since 1994 but said
they did so for security purposes.  On October 6, 2006 they
conducted their first underground nuclear test.

North Korean Army

North Korea has the largest military relative to the size of the
country in the world. It has the fourth largest standing army 
and with this power Kim has done little or nothing to relax his
control on all aspects of the economy.

Crazy or is it His two Birth Orders?

Psychological evaluations conclude that Kim Jong –il is
fearless in the face of sanctions and punishment.  All these 
are second born traits.  This makes negotiations with him
extraordinarily difficult.  Because of the cultural gender 
biases’ working with three different female US Secretary’s
of State has been exasperating. His birth order won’t 

let you get a good look inside his country or his life. Trying
to act like a number one birth order but behaving like a
second born only adds to the confusion.

Jon Stewart – The Second Born with Attitude

 

 John Stewart

American political satirist, television host, and stand up comedian. Known for

The Daily Show that puts a satirical slant to news stories

Early Years

Born November 28^th 1962, Jon is the younger brother of Lawrence Leibowitz.

Both Jon and Lawrence reach the same age during each year so they may be

no more than one year apart. With two different names are they step-brothers

from two marriages? The answer is Jon changed his name from Jonathan

Stewart Leibowitz to Jon Stewart in 2001. His parents divorced when he

was eleven years old and he and his brother were raised by his mother. He

 has no contact with his father, another possible reason for the name change.

The second born does not forgive easily.

Don’t Compare Me to My Brother

Larry, his older brother, is presently Chief Operating Officer and member

of the Management Committee, New York Stock Exchange Euronext, Inc.

In fiscal year 2009 Larry’s compensation was $1,675,000. As a first born

being part of the establishment and following the rules is usually the case.

A position of power to give orders to others and not money is their personality

trait. A conservative view of life is in keeping with this birth order.

Jon, the younger brother, earned 14 million dollars in 2008.  As a second born

he would use money for the freedom it brings having no one tell him what to do.

Money gives the second born independence, he does not use it for  power

over others. The second born can take a different path than the first born

and Jon’s liberal views show clearly on his show.

In college Stewart majored in psychology and played on the soccer team.

This is the athletic side of the second born.  He has had surgery to repair both

a hernia and knee injury attributed to college soccer.   The second born

can be the bull dog in spirit, they never give up.

Work History

Jon had a series of part-time jobs which included, busboy, puppeteer, bartender

and shelf stocker at Woolworths. He was fired at Woolworths after diving into

a beanbag chair that crashed into a group of aquariums causing $10,000 damage.

Worse yet, it was his older brother that fired him! He got his first television job as a writer for Caroline’s Comedy Hour. Several other comedy shows followed with some co-hosting roles.  When David Letterman left NBC in 1993 Jon was in the running to replace him.  It came down to Stewart and Conan O’Brian, Stewart lost.

Birth Orders of Talk Show Hosts

The book, Life’s Fingerprint, a study of birth orders and how they affect your path throughout life shows that NBC got it wrong.  There have been a number of talk show

hosts with the number Two or the Double birth order of a Two/Only. David Letterman a

Two/Only, (five years between David and his sister). Jay Leno an Only/Two, (Ten years between Jay and his older brother) and Howard Stern a Two/Only, (Four years between himself and his older sister). We cannot forget Johnny Carson, the most successful talk show host of all time was a second born. Conan O’Brian is a third born with a very different personality and we now know how that worked out.  In 2002 ABC offered Stewart his own talk show to air after Nightline.  He was very interested but ABC gave the show to Jimmy Kimmel, a firstborn. The saying, “Always the Bridesmaid never the Bride” seems to fit for Jon Stewart.

Don’t tell Me What to Do

In college he was briefly a member of a fraternity but left in part because he did not agree with the hazing.  Second borns don’t like to be told what to do..

In 2005 he appeared on the CNN show Crossfire with the host Tucker Carlson.

The interview did not go well but Stewart would not give ground as he accused the hosts of being “partisan hacks”. He said the show failed to inform and educate its viewers. Second borns will stick to their position.  In 2005 CNN announced that it was canceling Crossfire.

Who is Your Friend?

People with the same birth order have an uncanny way of finding each other.  If you look closely at your friends you will find many times they share your birth order.  This was true for Jon while he was going through a series of jobs; he shared an apartment with Anthony Weiner.  Anthony, like Stewart, had an older brother giving him the same number Two birth order. Weiner is now a Congressman from New York and the only politician to have received a campaign donation from Stewart.

Birth order is that unconscious unseen force that influences many aspects of our lives.

With its understanding we may see that some things don’t just happen by chance.

Congressman Paul Ryan: Ready to Reply to State of the Union

Rising Star

• One of the rising stars of the Republican Party is Paul Ryan from Wisconsin.He made an historical   television appearance when he and other Republicans were  invited to the White House for a discussion on the Health Care Bill.  Ryan came prepared with the 2000 plus pages of the bill and notes about many of it’s polices. The interesting exchange between himself and the President fell just slightly short of confrontational.

Birth Order

• If we look at his birth order we find he is a Four/Only Double birth order. Of his three older siblings the closest in age to him is five years older.  His father died when he was 16 years old and he was the last child living at home with his mother.  As he has said, “It was just the two of us, since my siblings were off in college.”  As the fourth born he is the true baby in the family but since he spent so many years home alone with his mother he added the power of the Only child to his birth order

Double Birth Order

• He realized early in life that you have to work for whatever you want.  As the baby in the family this is a very unusual position for the fourth born with no older siblings to help him.  All the added power and characteristics of the Only child has been a great benefit. He is well liked and that goes along with his fourth born characteristics but he can also be in your face having no fear of those older or those in power. This is what he gets from the Only side of his Double Birth Order.  Look for further confrontations as he can make those in power very uncomfortable.  He may be one of the younger congressmen but don’t be fooled by his age.  We should be seeing a lot more of him in the future.

Reply to the State of the Union

• As the Chairman of the House Budget committee he has been selected to respond to the President’s 2011 State of the Union address.  Don’t expect him go easy on  President Obama.  He will be in your face as a number Four but polite like an Only.

Genius or Birth Order? Zuckerberg, Gates, and Buffett: Their Common Characteristics

These entrepreneurial billionaires span three generations. Warren Buffett, chairman of Berkshire Hathaway is 81, William Gates III founder of Microsoft is 56, and Mark Zuckerberg co-founder of Facebook is 26.

• Two made the cover of Time Magazine. Mark Zuckerberg in 2010, Bill Gates shared it with wife Melinda and musician Bono in 2005. Warren Buffet never made it to the cover but in 2006 was listed among Time’s 100 Most Influential People in the World

• Both Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates attended Harvard but never finished, they dropped out to start their companies. Warren Buffett did finish college and went on for an additional degree. Maybe he represents a different generation?

 They are all Billionaires but they share something else on a more personal level; something even they may not   

 know. Birth Order

Birth Order

             They all share the same Birth Order. They are all Second borns with older sisters.
             All their sisters are approximately two years older.  Because of this they share a
             number of second born traits and because of their male genders they had an easy
             time dethroning their sisters, functioning as First borns but keeping their Second born traits.

Starting Early

• Warren Buffet had a paper route early in his life and bought his first stock at the age of 11.  That five dollars of profit would set the stage for a life in the investment field.  Bill Gates was programming computers at the age of 11 when he was sent for counseling because of his independent streak, a true second born trait. Mark Zuckerberg’s first computer was a Quantex 486DX running Windows 3.1 and at age 12 he created a program to network the family computers.  The rest is history.

Don’t Tell Me What to Do

• Freedom, not power is what sets the Second born apart from the First born.  Their billions are used for their freedom not for its power. They don’t like to be told what to do and their billions buy them this freedom.

Competitive

• All show their competitive trait in their businesses, often putting in very long hours with an intensity that many could not sustain. On a more personal level we also see this trait. Mark Zuckerberg was a fencer in High school, Bill Gates was always playing competitive games with his two sisters and Warren Buffett plays bridge12 hrs per week. In 2006 he started the Buffett Cup for competition between 12 US players and 12 Europeans patterned after the Ryder Cup in golf. 

Management Style

• Their management styles show the mark of the Second Born.  Mark Zuckerberg doesn’t have an office but prefers the open office approach, no exercising of power here. Bill Gates’ employees are independent contractors and Warren Buffett prides himself in not getting in the way of the CEO’s of his companies.  He says he just leaves them alone; they do a better job without his interference.  This is what all three of them think everyone would like because that is what they want.   They are unaware it’s a birth order trait of Second borns.

Philanthropy

• All have pledged to give at least 50% of their wealth to charity.  Why did they all see this as an easy decision?  As Second borns they share similar views on life. People with the same birth order are so much alike that age is no barrier. The Double Birth Order of Bing Crosby a Four/Two

It’s the holiday season and what a better life to look at than Bing Crosby’s.

He was the most popular crooner of his day and the classic “White Christmas”

is still heard every year. His last recording and his final TV Christmas was with

David Bowie.  His duet with Bowie of “Peace on Earth and The Little Drummer

Boy is listed as one of the 25 most memorable musical moments of the 20^th century.

Double Birth Orders

Many people get confused when a Double Birth order consists of two ordinal birth numbers and not an ordinal number combined with that of an Only. We also call this a Family within a Family.  The life of Bing Crosby should clear up any confusion. This is how we find this type of Double birth order.

Bing's 4/2 Double Birth Order

If we look at the characteristics of these two birth orders we can see them in his work and interests. His life shows what can happen when you combine the Two and Four birth orders.  The Two wants to control his space and its money that gives him control.  He is also competitive and can be athletic.  He will not be conventional in his thinking and can go where others don't feel comfortable. The Four can be a real charmer as the baby in the family and if work is fun than that is perfect for him.  Having a double birth order allows this person to switch back and forth between these traits; this can cause some confusion for those around him.

A look at his life’s accomplishments from his work that he seemed to do so easily.

1. As of 2000 he still held the number of most Number One hit records 38

 2. Successful in record sales, radio ratings and motion picture grosses.

3. Developed first commercial reel-to-reel tape recorder

7. Was fired from Paul Whiteman band for “bad” behavior

    (Maybe he didn’t want to be told what to do?)

8.  In tickets sold he is the third most popular actor of all time.

9. Walked away from the radio networks when they would not allow him to

    prerecord his shows on magnetic tape. Was settled out of court with him winning.

    (It is said this allowed him more time for golf)

10. Invested in the first frozen orange juice sold under the brand Minute Maid.

      (With this investment he found a loophole in the tax law so the IRS couldn’t

       tax him at 77%)(Number Two needs money for their independence)

11. Launched the tape recorder revolution in America with Ampex company

12. Financed the development of videotape.

13. Helped establish Del Mar race track in California. Sold his interest in 1946 for   

       almost half a million dollars.

His Athletic achievements and Fun

1.  Part owner of the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball team

2.  Member of the World Golf Hall of Fame.  Thought to be one of the
     people most responsible for popularizing the game

3.  Received the William D. Richardson Memorial Trophy for his
     contributions to the game of golf (1950)

4.  Started in 1937 the Crosby Clambake and now known as the
     A&T  Pebble Beach National Pro-Am

5.   He was a two handicap player who competed in both the British and
      U.S. Amateur championships.

6    One of only a few players to ever make a hole in one on the 16^th at
      Cypress Point

7.  Wife Kathryn Crosby said at a news conference after Crosby’s death,
     “I can’t think of any better way for a golfer who sings for a living to
      finish the round.

 8.  Died from a massive heart attack after a round of 18 holes of golf near
     Madrid Spain. He and his partner had just defeated their opponents.
     His last words were “That was a great game of golf, fellas”  He had been
     told by his doctor to limit his play to only 9 holes.

President’s Obama and Clinton a study in Double Birth Order

On Friday December 10, 2010 we all were witness to a very unusual event,

Two Presidents having a news conference sharing the podium.  This joint conference in itself was not what most people noticed.  It was the current President letting a former President run the news conference and then excusing himself, saying his wife was waiting for him. This left Bill Clinton to continue with reporters for another 30 minutes.

Double Birth Orders

Double birth orders occur when there are at least 4 school years between adjacent siblings. The greater the number of years the more like an Only child you become and less like your number of birth.  The Only child can be the most adult like of the birth orders. At a 4 yr separation you are 50% an Only and 50% your number of birth.

One Only and Only One.

From the aspect of birth order this behavior between Clinton and Obama was not at all unusual.  The strongest birth order is always in charge and that was Bill Clinton. Bill has a Double birth order of an Only/One having a step brother Roger 10yrs younger giving Bill more Only power. Obama is a One/Only birth order being only 6years older than his half/sister.  To the outside observer this acquiescence of the podium seems odd but not odd at all from the perspective of Double Birth Order theory.
